POSITION OBJECTIVE: The job of Psychologist Intern is done for the purpose/s of assisting students who experience physical mental social or emotional difficulties; identifying difficulties and promoting improvement through evaluation intervention and/or consultation; referring and/or coordinating with community service agencies; planning developing and evaluating programs; and establishing appropriate interventions within the school setting.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) - Assesses students students strengths and weaknesses within and in consideration of multiple environments for the purpose of determining students present level of academic and functional performance and developing recommendations and/or placement.
- Consults with teachers parents other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information developing plans for services and/or making recommendations.
- Coordinates and communicates with community agencies including medical judicial social service and mental health services for the purpose of determining appropriate treatments etc. to meet the needs of specific students.
- Facilitates meetings (e.g. IEP conferences parent meetings in-service etc.) for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students functional goals.
- Intervenes in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying such behavior and developing successful interpersonal skills.
- Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences in-service training site meetings etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or presenting information and/or meeting credential requirements.
- Prepares documentation (e.g. evaluations observations progress contacts with parents teachers and outside professionals etc.) for the purpose of providing written support developing recommendations and/or conveying information.
- Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques assessment tools and methods community resources etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate approach for addressing students specific needs.
- Supervises interns practicum students and others for the purpose of monitoring performance providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of schools curriculum.

Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operate standard office equipment; designing interventions.

ABILITY: (position requirements at entry): ABILITY is required to schedule activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related working with others independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintain confidentiality; communicate with diverse groups; record keeping.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: reaching standing walking finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negoligible amount of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for Light Work.
