Job Summary

This company produce a large range of timbers and building products. Their services include custom timber milling specialist timber treatment contract kiln drying custom timber machining and bulk woodchip supply. This role involves you being across multiple centres within the sawmill operating machinery and grading. You will support the department by being efficient delivering a high-quality product and comply with the safety requirements of the company.

Some of the machinery you will operate are

Band saw (Head rig and Resaw)
Cant gang sawyer (Edger)
Debarker Some of the tasks that will be performed in the team environment
Manning stations throughout the mill including Pull back/Sorting table Docking Saws Chipper Working on green sorting table.
Assisting in the Sawshop and with saw and chipper knife changes as required.
Cleaning up of mill o Assisting with maintenance as required
Other tasks within the wider site in any of the other departments as required.
You will be expected to inspect and report any machinery issues that may impact the schedule limiting any down time of the machinery.
You will need to have good understanding of how to grade timber to get the best recovery: E.g. Knots Pith Clears.
You will have to solve problems have an aptitude for performing under stress show initiative and be dependable and communicate with your team. All tasks are expected to be done competently with accuracy and efficiency to ensure high levels of productivity

Day shift Monday to Friday 6am until 4pm times can vary depending on workload Hourly rate $28 to $30 Minimum 3 years experience in a relevant field Guaranteed 30 hours a week Average hours 45 You must provide 2 referees from previous sawmill operations Must have a clean criminal record You must pass a drug and alcohol test and be randomly tested if you are employed
