How youll contribute

A successful Emergency Services Technician:

• Works closely with all emergency services staff

• Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and visitors

• Is responsible for the proper collection of most specimens used in laboratory analysis within the scope of their knowledge and experience (Phlebotomy POC testing)

• Performs point of care testing and follows appropriate quality control procedures

• Assists with the admission transfer and discharge of patients as appropriate including the transporting of patients throughout the facility

• Practices universal precautions

• Has the ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful emergency situations

• Continually strives to identify areas of cost containment by monitoring supplies and equipment

• Obtains vital signs and accurately documents in patients electronic medical record

• Performs/follows the DEM EKG process

• Assists with the nursing process i.e. vitals dressings splints under the direction of the nurse or DEM provider

• Assesses evaluates and relays to appropriate team members necessary and pertinent information concerning patient care

• Maintains cleanliness of environment i.e.: patient care areas work areas and staff lounge

• Assures patient care areas are restocked with adequate supplies and linen

• Is responsible for documenting patient valuables on appropriate forms

• Assumes assigned role internal/external disaster plans

• Completes annual required education/competencies

• Maintains CPR certification

• Attends 1:1 education within 12 months of hire

What were looking for

• High School diploma or equivalent required

• CPR required

• Completion of an EMT/nurse aide/patient care technician training or equivalent
• Phlebotomy preferred
• Emergency care experience preferred
