How youll contribute
A successful Emergency Services Technician:
Works closely with all emergency services staff
Establishes positive relationships with patients/families and visitors
Is responsible for the proper collection of most specimens used in laboratory analysis within the scope of their knowledge and experience (Phlebotomy POC testing)
Performs point of care testing and follows appropriate quality control procedures
Assists with the admission transfer and discharge of patients as appropriate including the transporting of patients throughout the facility
Practices universal precautions
Has the ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful emergency situations
Continually strives to identify areas of cost containment by monitoring supplies and equipment
Obtains vital signs and accurately documents in patients electronic medical record
Performs/follows the DEM EKG process
Assists with the nursing process i.e. vitals dressings splints under the direction of the nurse or DEM provider
Assesses evaluates and relays to appropriate team members necessary and pertinent information concerning patient care
Maintains cleanliness of environment i.e.: patient care areas work areas and staff lounge
Assures patient care areas are restocked with adequate supplies and linen
Is responsible for documenting patient valuables on appropriate forms
Assumes assigned role internal/external disaster plans
Completes annual required education/competencies
Maintains CPR certification
Attends 1:1 education within 12 months of hire
