The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health and the environment by supplying clean drinking water collecting and treating wastewater and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEP delivers more than 1.1 billion gallons per day of the highest quality drinking water to 8.5 million NYC residents and more than 1 million people in Upstate New York and has a wastewater conveyance and treatment system capable of processing over 1.3 billion gallons of wastewater per day to protect the environment and the citys surrounding waterways.
New York City has approximately 140000 catch basins 114000 hydrants 90000 valves 14 gatehouses 3 reservoirs 68 groundwater wells a 100 million gallon underground storage tank and 7000 miles each of both sanitary sewers and water mains. The responsibility of maintaining these vast networks falls under the Department of Environmental Protections Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations (BWSO).
The Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations (BWSO) is seeking to hire one (1) candidate for the title of Borough Manager of Water Main Replacement (WMR). Under direction of the Deputy Chief(s) of Maintenance and Repairs with latitude for discretion and independent judgment the selected candidates will serve as Borough Manager Water Main Replacement (WMR) in the Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations Division of Maintenance and Repairs. Customarily perform assignments of managerial administrative professional and technical work of wide scope and complexity requiring knowledge skill and abilities consistent with in-depth knowledge and experience in the operation maintenance and repair of water supply and sewer systems and infrastructure. Responsible for the installation maintenance and repair of infrastructure and collaboration with the Distribution Engineering as well as Emergency Operations Unit coordinate and oversee personnel equipment and materials in response to water main installation water main breaks sewer breaks major floods hydrants alerts water quality alerts and any other emergency response situation as it pertains to water supply and sewer systems. Read and interpret complex blueprints maps sketches plans distributions maps and related documents. Implement citywide policies throughout the borough and enforce standard operating procedures. Work with Division Chief to establish personnel requirements budgetary needs and vehicle needs. Ensure that staff is properly trained and proficient in the skills required to perform essential job functions.
License Requirement- Possess and maintain a valid New York State Drivers license.
Preferred License- Department of Health certificate for Water System Operator Class D Distribution System.

Qualifications :
1. Eight years of full-time experience acquired within the last ten years in the construction operation repair or maintenance of water supply distribution sewer and/or drainage systems four years of which must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity; or
2. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 above. However all candidates must have the four years of supervisory or managerial experience as described in 1 above.
License Requirements
All candidates must possess a Motor Vehicle Operators License valid in the State of New York.
