Why Your Role Matters

The Senior Officer English Language Development is a key member of the Academic Success and Faculty Engagement team within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education (PVCE) portfolio. This role supports the development of academic and social English language proficiency for students with a particular focus on international students and those with English as an additional language (EAL).

The Senior Officer contributes to the design delivery and evaluation of English language support across curricular and co-curricular contexts. This includes developing scalable resources facilitating learning opportunities and collaborating with academic and professional staff to embed language development into teaching and assessment practices. The role supports the implementation of strategic frameworks such as the Post-Entry English and Academic Language (PEAL) and Academic Language and Literacy. Embedding (ALLE) initiatives ensuring alignment with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles

Who You Are

We are looking for someone who is aligned with UNSWs vision and values and comes with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in TESOL Applied Linguistics Education or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Experience designing delivering and evaluating academic English language support in a higher education context.
  • Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by international and EAL students.
  • Ability to create inclusive engaging learning materials and apply UDL principles in program design.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills with experience teaching or leading workshops.
  • Proven project management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse stakeholders across academic and professional units.
  • Ability to analyse data and evaluate program impact to inform continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in using educational technologies and learning platform
