PROGRAMMING MANAGER- INDEPENDENT LIVING FULL-TIME
GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Programming Manager under the management of the Director of Resident Services is responsible for program planning scheduling of events announcement of schedules physical event preparation and solicitation of resident feedback of recreational activities for Independent Living . The programs are to be coordinated in cooperation with residents staff and community resources. The Programming Manager works to provide an environment in which activity and creativity can flourish.
WORKING HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT
Some evening weekend and holiday hours required as activity schedule dictates.
Work in inside and outside environments. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to
dust fumes odors water etc. as well as some noises. Must be able to tolerate exposure to
weather fluctuations in temperature (hot/cold) wet and/or humid conditions.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Mission Values and Vision of LifeSpire of Virginia.
- Implements programming in Independent Living. Interacts daily with Independent Living residents and works with Resident Council Activities Committee for resident feedback and input.
- Develops programming calendars and executes activities events and trips for IL needs and wants of the residents.
- Ensures interdepartmental coordination of all activities and events.
- Coordinates with other staff members relating to scheduling of events and use of facilities. Maintains room reservation calendar for all activities spaces.
- Attends meetings as determined necessary by supervisor. Attends meetings in Resident Services Directors absence as needed.
- Assists Resident Services Director in evaluating all programming department employees annually.
- Manages the purchase of programming supplies and equipment; maintain inventory and storage.
- Maintains record of and compliance to monthly Resident Services/Programming budget.
- Drives passenger bus when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in a prompt and cooperative fashion.
- Follows all personnel policies and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook and subsequent publications and notices (including policies on breaks meal periods and PTO time).
- Maintains thorough job knowledge and understanding of:
- Job description
- Residents rights
- Fire and disaster plan
- Problem solving procedures
REQUIREMENTS:
The Programming Manager should have at least 1 year of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age with a High School diploma or GED.
- Hold Commercial Drivers License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
- Must be able to complete and pass a DOT physical annually and meet the terms of the Community Driving Policy.
- Ability to operate 18 passenger (resident)bus when necessary during trips/outings.
- Organizational and social skills.
- Ability to establish good rapport with senior adults.
- Ability to work independently.
- Previous computer experience and skills.
- Previous experience in senior living activities.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents families and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in desktop publishing or similar type program for design development and preparation of facility newsletter.
