Job Summary

Jabil is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Sr. Principal Auto Design Engineer to lead and manage complex automation projects from concept to completion. This role requires a strong blend of engineering expertise project management acumen and a deep understanding of automated systems to drive efficiency quality and cost savings across Jabils manufacturing operations.

Job Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the full lifecycle of automation projects including planning design development implementation testing and deployment ensuring projects are delivered on time within budget and to the required specifications.
* Define project scope objectives deliverables and resource requirements developing comprehensive project plans and schedules.
* Conduct detailed analysis of existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for automation and optimization.
* Design and develop robust scalable and cost-effective automated solutions leveraging various technologies such as robotics PLC systems SCADA vision systems and advanced sensors.
* Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing operations R&D and quality assurance to gather requirements ensure seamless integration and facilitate successful project execution.
* Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for automation projects proactively addressing potential challenges.
* Develop and implement testing protocols to validate the functionality performance and safety of automated systems.
* Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
* Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies industry best practices and regulatory requirements recommending their adoption where beneficial.
* Prepare and present project updates technical reports and budget summaries to stakeholders and senior management.
* Manage external vendors and contractors for the procurement of equipment and services related to automation projects.

Job Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Automation Engineering Robotics or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
* 5 years of progressive experience in automation design development and project management within a manufacturing environment.
* Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex automation projects from concept to production.
* Expertise in PLC programming (e.g. Siemens Allen-Bradley) HMI/SCADA development and industrial networking protocols.
* Strong experience with robotic systems (e.g. Fanuc KUKA ABB) and their integration into automated lines.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks AutoCAD) for mechanical design and layout.
* Demonstrated knowledge of machine vision systems and their applications in quality control and guidance.
* Solid understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
* Excellent project management skills including budgeting scheduling risk management and resource allocation. PMP certification is a plus.
* Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset.
* Outstanding communication interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
* Ability to travel as required to various manufacturing sites.
