Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct Correctional Officer Skills Enhancement Program (COSEP) Training standardized performance evaluations and observation reports on all uniform new hires on all shifts.
  • Monitor evaluate and track new hires progress through the COSEP program.
  • Consult with the Training Academy and Institutional Management Team regarding new hires make recommendations and submit reports to appropriate staff.
  • Resource manager weekly to coordinate intake needs and concerns.
  • Provide COSEP training for permanent employees as identified and needed.
  • Participate in meetings/training and community relations/recruiting activities as needed.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelors degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.



SCDC Minimum Requirements:

(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

  • A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional security military or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above 1 year).
  • Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
