Role Purpose:
As a Construction Risk Engineer you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients and underwriters by providing expert risk engineering services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with Line of Business (LoB) engineering teams across Construction Casualty and Environmental to implement a multi-line approach to risk engineering focusing on the middle market segment but not limited to.
- Provide timely succinct and technically advanced engineering advice to underwriters regarding risks of construction in compliance with CHUBB Engineering guidelines and processes.
- Conducting site visits and risk surveys of client projects and premises providing input into broker reports and making risk improvement recommendations.
- Supporting Construction underwriters with technical input into risk assessments evaluating submission information and completing engineering reviews.Support them as well in clients and broker meetings.
- Keeping informed of industry developments including technological advancements regulatory changes and market challenges and sharing insights with stakeholders.
- Attending and participating in industry events to represent Chubb and expand your network of industry stakeholders.
- Work with CEMENA Construction leaders and marketing & communications to develop thought leadership articles for external audience.
- Create market and develop value-added risk engineering services for Construction clients.
- Work closely with Chubb Overseas General (COG) Construction risk engineer COG Construction Industry Practice (IP) Leader and CEMENA Construction Risk Engineers IP leaders and underwriters.
- Work with underwriting leaders in the country / region to help develop our mid-market risk appetite and strategy in particular segment areas to ensure profitable growth.
- Support training for underwriting teams (multi-line) to help them gain confidence and establish skills in technical areas and support training presentations for partner brokers.
- Technical support for thought leadership (working alongside underwriting and marketing) which will help position Chubb as a specialist market.
QualificationsTechnical skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering activities related to the construction of complex projects.
- Extensive knowledge of construction sectors with a commitment to continuous learning.
- Practical and results-driven with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Clear and confident communicator capable of conveying technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Insurance engineering experience gained with a recognized lead insurer or re-insurer would be beneficial but not essential.
- Keen inquisitive interest in Engineering subjects and appreciative of the business environment/ethics.
- A qualified engineer preferably holding a degree in Construction or Civil Engineering.
- Ability to work through both Property and casualty exposures for construction business.
Other requirements:
- Willingness to travel across the CEMENA region with a focus on Spain Portugal and Italy but not limited to.
- The role is located in Madrid in Spain.
- Fluent English native Spanish ; Italian and Portuguese language would be a plus.
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills with ability to work both on own initiative and as an effective team member.
- PC literate with a good working knowledge of Office software suite.
- Enjoy facing new challenges including working with large multi-national clients brokers claims adjusters and others.
- Great teammate with flexible communicative and personable approach to work.
- Ability to work independently being autonomous and manage time.
