The STAT Registered Nurse is responsible for planning coordinating directing and evaluating operations of the critical care division and responding and assisting with emergencies throughout the hospital.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responds to all hospital emergencies including but not limited to rapid responses code blues endovascular alerts code crimsons etc
Triage and place transfers in from other hospitals based on specialty and needs for the patient
Communicates with critical care managers to coordinate the staffing among all critical care units based on acuity
Assists in difficult IV access to include peripheral IVs and ports using ultrasound guided equipment if needed
Assist in Keofed insertions on acute care floor
Coordinate transfer of patient to a higher level of care and expedite movement
Cross-train to Interventional Radiology to assist in procedures during off hours
Assist in transport of critically ill patients
Provides shift by shift communication regarding census and staffing with nursing supervisors and the patient access center to optimize patient flow
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Sit up to 2 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 8 hours per day; 4 hours at a time. Walk up to 6 hours per day; 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift carry and push objects up to 10 pounds. Frequently lift carry and push objects up to 75 pounds. Transport patients weighing up to 250 lbs. via wheelchair bed and/or stretcher with assistance when appropriate.
EDUCATION:
Registered nurse with current license to practice in the State of Pennsylvania or seek Pennsylvania or seek Pennsylvania licensure through reciprocity. BSN preferred.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Critical care experience required. Supervisor and/or leadership experience preferred. ACLS/BLS required.
