Class Summary


The Guardian ad Litem division for the Department of Child Advocacy and Juvenile Services provides zealous legal representation of children and advocates for their legal rights and best interests.

Job Description
This full-time Case Coordinator will work closely with and support Guardians ad Litem/Attorneys in dependency and child custody matters. Incumbents will conduct interviews with children parents and various collateral sources of information. The incumbent will also: prepare notes and reports conduct home assessments and field visits and assist with investigating child welfare matters through the collection of medical school psychological legal and other records.

Essential Duties
  • Conduct research and home assessments to include contact with police officers Department of Child and Family Services personnel or other child welfare entities
  • Contact and interview various individuals to determine what services will best serve the childs needs
  • Assist in determining the appropriateness of placements and permanency planning
  • Continuously research identify implement evaluate services appropriate for the child and family
  • Attend and participate in meetings and staffings
  • Drafting documents and reports for attorney review
  • Testify at hearings
  • Attend custody mediations
  • Continuously follow up with foster parents placement agencies schools daycares providers of various types of services
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level to include administrative support of Guardians ad Litem
Other Job Requirements/Information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Basic typing skills
  • No criminal convictions involving children
Grade
The grade for this position is B24(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree inSocial Work Education Psychology Criminal Justice Sociology or similar field AND
  • One (1) year of related experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • An equivalent combination of five or more years of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job will also be considered
  • Experience writing legal notes and reports
