Main duties
- Prepare lesson materials and apparatus for science practicals ensuring timely set-up and efficient clear-up.
- Manage consumables and chemical inventories order stock and ensure safe storage in line with COSHH guidance.
- Support maintenance and routine testing of laboratory equipment logging faults and coordinating repairs.
- Assist teachers with demonstrations and support practical activities promoting safe working practices among pupils.
- Maintain up-to-date safety records risk assessments and departmental documentation for Southwark leadership.
Person specification
- Experience as a Science Technician or in laboratory support with sound practical skills and safety awareness.
- Confident with COSHH PPE risk assessments and the routine maintenance of lab apparatus.
- Organised proactive and able to work flexibly across a busy timetable in Southwark.
- Strong communicator who can work with teachers pupils and external contractors to maintain a safe lab environment.
- Able to begin January 2026 and to take part in induction and training before January 2026.
