Head of Legal (m/w/d)
Purpose
This role is responsible for overseeing all legal and risk matters within an organization. Their purpose is to protect the company legally ensure compliance and support strategic decision-making through legal expertise.
Responsibilities
- Legal Advisory: Advise management and business units on all legal matters with a focus on corporate law general civil and contract law and related commercial law topics.
- Coordination & Management: Oversee legal matters across the company identify areas requiring action and coordinate involvement of external law firms or subject-matter experts where appropriate.
- Contract Management: Review draft and negotiate contracts with clients suppliers and other partners including both standard agreements and more complex arrangements in an international context. Define standards and general Terms & Conditions.
- Compliance & Governance: Contribute to the development and enhancement of internal policies support compliance initiatives and ensure adherence to applicable legal requirements. Govern general legal housekeeping of all legal entities.
- Risk Management: Identify legal risks at an early stage and proactively develop strategies to prevent or mitigate them.
- Collaboration with External Partners: Efficiently manage external legal advisors from selection and briefing to review of outcomes. Oversee financial efficiency of usage.
Role Requirements Necessary certificates & skills
- Completed degree in German and preferably international Law.
- Relevant professional experience as a Legal Counsel or in a comparable role preferably with international exposure.
- Knowledge and experience of corporate law as well as general civil and contract law (labor law is not a focus).
- Knowledge of managing external law firms or legal service providers with a solid understanding of business and commercial contexts.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English; additional European languages are a plus.
