The Loss Mitigation Analyst is responsible for assisting borrowers who are facing financial hardship and are unable to make their mortgage payments. The role involves reviewing borrower cases analyzing financial documents and identifying appropriate solutions to avoid foreclosure while minimizing losses for the lender
Role & responsibilities :
- Review and analyze delinquent mortgage accounts to determine the best loss mitigation option.
- Communicate with borrowers to understand their financial situation and reason for default.
- Evaluate eligibility for various workout options such as loan modification repayment plan forbearance short sale or deed-in-lieu of foreclosure.
- Collect verify and review financial documents (income proof bank statements hardship letters etc.).
- Update borrower case details in the servicing system and ensure all actions comply with investor and regulatory guidelines (Fannie Mae Freddie Mac FHA VA).
- Coordinate with internal departments (underwriting foreclosure and collections) to ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain accurate records and follow data security and compliance standards.
- Prepare daily / weekly reports on account status and case updates.
