Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides outpatient therapy services working with a caseload that includes geriatrics and orthopedics. The PTA will assist patients with activities of daily living perform therapeutic exercises and implement treatment plans under the direction of a Physical Therapist. This role requires strong time management skills and the ability to work with various equipment and devices.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Perform therapeutic exercises including AROM/AAROM/PROM.
- Instruct patients in the use of assistive devices such as crutches gait belts rolling walkers and standard walkers.
- Assess and document patient progress including pain levels and skin integrity.
- Monitor vital signs and record intake and output.
- Maintain and clean equipment.
- Communicate patient status and report changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Document patient care and related duties in the electronic medical record.
- Assist with patient transport and preparation for diagnostic tests.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of Illinois.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a PTA.
- Experience with geriatric and orthopedic patient populations.
- Proficiency in assessment skills including AROM/AAROM/PROM arousal and attention assistive devices body mechanics pain assessment skin integrity and strength testing.
- Time management skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- None specified.
Special Considerations:
- May be required to float within scope to meet facility needs.
- No on-call requirements.
- Limited RTO (ideally no more than 5 days).
- Critical Access Magnet hospital environment.
Scheduling:
- Flexible shift options: 5x8 hour days (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM) or 4x10 hour days.
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Blocked schedule.
