Job Summary:
NetApp a multi-billion dollar technology leader and highly sought-after employer is adding a Senior Counsel to join its award-winning legal department. The successful candidate will support the companys product legal functions. S/he will be responsible for providing legal support to NetApps on-premise enterprise software platforms and hybrid cloud data management systems.
We are looking for a highly motivated tech-savvy attorney with at least 8 years of experience in hardware software on-premise and hybrid cloud high-tech industries.This is a Product Counsel role supporting Product Management Engineering and Technical teams.
This position is based in the Companys San Jose CA or Raleigh NC or Vienna VA and is a hybrid role (2 days in office per week).
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of NetApps wide range of data management solutions to provide strategic as well as pragmatic legal solutions to the business
- Strategic business advisor to NetApps data storage and management products and services
- Provide expertise in IP transactions and protection inbound and outbound agreements go-to-market privacy security export compliance open source AI GenAI licensing compliance finance and security
- Work closely with Product Management Engineering Finance and other teams in building and bringing products and services to market
- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Act as the primary legal partner for Product Engineering and Technical teams.
- Support product development from ideation through launch.
- Advise of inbound technology licensing procurement or technical components and integration of third-party technologies.
- Navigate complex technical concepts and translate them into legal risk assessments.
- Embed yourself within technical teams to identify issues early and build trusted relationships.
Job Requirements:
- 8 years of experience as a Product Counsel or Technology Counsel in a software-based technology company.
- Prior experience at a major law firm followed by in-house counsel work strongly preferred.
- Experience with inbound technology transactions licensing and integrating third-party technology into products.
- Must be comfortable partnering with product managers engineering leaders and technical stakeholders.
- Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills including extensive experience in complex technology transactions partnerships and alliances etc
- Ability to build credibility advocate and influence business and other teams
- Ability to prioritize and deliver multiple simultaneous projects under pressure
- Strong collaboration skills across teams and organizations
- Occasional travel may be required
Education:
- Bar admission in any jurisdiction with good standing with relevant experience at a law firm and in-house directly in the tech -house experience preferred
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is $250K - $314K. The salary offered will be determined by the candidates location qualifications experience and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards reflecting a variety of factors and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance Life Insurance Retirement or Pension Plans Paid Time Off (PTO) various Leave options Performance-Based Incentives employee stock purchase plan and/or restricted stocks (RSUs) with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws regulations and company policies.
