Position Summary

The Kindergarten Behavior Interventionist supports the social emotional and behavioral development of kindergarten students by implementing targeted interventions reinforcing positive behaviors and collaborating with teachers families and school support staff. This role focuses on helping students build self-regulation skills develop positive peer interactions and fully access learning in a safe and nurturing environment.


Job Tasks:

Student Support

  • Provide direct behavioral support to kindergarten students individually or in small groups.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) safety plans and individualized strategies as directed by support teams.
  • Model and teach positive behavior problem-solving and self-regulation skills.
  • Facilitate socialemotional learning activities and conflict resolution as needed.
  • Monitor student behavior and document observations for progress tracking.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with classroom teachers to support behavior expectations and implement classroom routines.
  • Assist teachers with proactive strategies reinforcement systems and behavior data collection.
  • Collaborate with teachers counselors special education staff psychologists and administrators to support student needs.
  • Communicate regularly with families in a positive professional manner to support consistency between school and home.

Crisis Response & Safety

  • Intervene in situations where students require redirection calming strategies or removal from overstimulating environments.
  • Use approved de-escalation techniques and follow school and network protocols for student safety.
  • Support students during transitions unstructured times and challenging parts of the school day.

Documentation & Data

  • Collect and track behavior data to monitor progress and inform interventions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student behavior incidents and intervention strategies.
  • Participate in team meetings to review data and adjust plans as needed.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in education child development psychology or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and behavior management strategies.
  • Ability to remain calm patient and supportive during challenging behaviors.
  • Effective communication problem-solving and teamwork skills.

PHYSICAL & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand walk kneel and actively engage with young children throughout the school day.
  • Ability to lift or assist small children when necessary following safety guidelines.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following school policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to behavior intervention and early childhood practices.
