These vacancies sit within the Early Intervention team and will cover the East of Cornwall
We are a team of 12 practitioners from education social care and youth work backgrounds with a range of experience in trauma informed approaches restorative and relational practice.

About the Role:

These 2 vacancies sit within the Early Intervention team and will be 12 month Fixed Term Contracts in the first instance.
The role involves working directly with children and young people their parents and carers and with school professionals to identify assess challenge and follow up on the needs of children where there is concern or duty in relation to school attendance behaviour achievement and their general welfare. The role has a focus on reducing suspensions and exclusions across Cornwall
The role sits within the Education Welfare and Education Effectiveness Service as part of a dedicated team to have oversight of operational aspects that sit within the Local Authority Inclusion and Belonging agenda and wider inclusion strategies.
This role will co-ordinate and support effective communication with schools parents and external settings using data and information to work collaboratively with partners to ensure that children and young people are accessing education.
You will need to:
To support education settings consistent and clear responses following referral to the Early Intervention & Inclusion Team (EIIT)
To support the Senior Education Effectiveness Officer for Education Welfare and the Early Intervention Lead with their work to improve belonging and inclusion in education settings in Cornwall by reducing suspensions and exclusions across the county.
To support the EIIT referral process ensuring that responses to allocation of case work is timely and appropriate.
To liaise with colleagues across Together for Families and Cornwall Council wider services to support a multi-agency approach and that agreed actions are followed up in a timely manner
To be the first point of contact for settings once a case has been allocated.
To support the Senior Education Effectiveness Officer and EIIT Lead in sharing good practice arranging and delivering training where appropriate and working with settings. Responsibilities to include working with vulnerable groups i.e. pupils excluded from or at risk of exclusion from school.
The role will also discharge the Local Education Authoritys duties concerning school attendance and the welfare of children under the Education Acts and 1989 Children Act (Education Supervision Orders) by working closely with other teams within the Education Welfare Service including both the Attendance and Engagement teams. You will also provide a professional service to identify and assess the needs of children where there is concern in relation to school attendance behaviour achievement and their general welfare.
This is a public/customer-facing role where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern:
This is a Fixed Term Contract for 12 months 37 hours per week Term Time Only.
The role is hybrid with a mix of home working office working and school/home visits.
What youll need to succeed:
You will be trained to degree level or similar with a background in education social care health or youth work.
