Matthews Center is a non-profit organization education-based organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and families affected by autism and related disabilities. We contract with many jurisdictions and parents to provide 1:1 data-driven instruction. The primary focus is placed on the development and improvement of functional communication skills daily living skills play/social skills and implementing an effective behavior intervention plan based on positive behavioral supports. Skills are taught using ABA techniques in a natural environment.
We are currently in search of a Director of Educational Programs to collaborate with the Executive Director to oversee the design implementation and continuous improvement of instructional and behavioral services within the Day School. This role combines program administration instructional leadership and staff development to ensure high-quality educational programming aligned with state and federal regulations. The Director will supervise day-to-day operations support teachers and related service providers and foster a safe inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students.
Responsibilities:
Manage the day to day operations of the Day School program ensuring smooth coordination or staff services and resources.
Promote the program to public agencies families and the community including providing tours and public outreach.
Lead continuous improvement efforts for instructional practices across classrooms.
Collaborate with teachers to administer assessments analyze data and target instructional strategies based on student needs.
Observe coach and provide feedback to teachers on instructional delivery classroom management and student engagement.
Ensure curriculum and instruction align with national state and district standards.
Act as Case Manager for Day School students collaborating with districts families and staff on the development and implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs).
Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Special Education or related discipline with a valid Virginia renewable post graduate professional license with endorsement in Administration and Supervision preferred.
Endorsement in at least one area of disability served by the Day School preferred.
Minimum of 3 years experience as a teacher. Equivalent combination of related training and experience will be considered. Supervisory experience required. Experience in autism or related disorders required.
Strong knowledge of curriculum design instructional coaching and assessment practices.
Ability to lead teams manage operations and foster collaboration among staff and families.
Must undergo criminal background checks and child protective service registry check. Must also obtain TB screening upon employment.
