Position Overview:

The HR Director provides leadership and oversight of key Human Resources functions for the Native American Rehabilitation Association of the Northwest (NARA NW). Areas of responsibility include recruiting and retention credentialing personnel records management and the development and maintenance of employment policies. The role ensures HR practices support NARA NWs mission values and commitment to providing appropriate care and services to the Native community.

What you will do:

  • Direct and supervise Recruiting staff HR Generalists and Benefits Specialist.
  • Lead HR team meetings and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Serve as an advisor to the CEO and executive team in the CHROs absence.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to identify HR needs and priorities; prepare and present reports for the CEO and CHRO.
  • Oversee the annual review of employment policies procedures and the employee handbook; recommend and implement updates to ensure compliance clarity and consistency across the organization.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal state and local employment laws including equal employment opportunity requirements and federal reporting obligations (e.g. EEO-1).
  • Serve as HRs lead for OSHA/OR-OSHA compliance workplace safety matters and the organizational safety committee; contribute to the development of safety and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure confidentiality accuracy and completeness of personnel and employee records.
  • Oversee unemployment claims and other employment-related administrative processes.
  • Leverage HR technology and data analytics to track workforce trends generate comprehensive reports and provide actionable insights to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with Recruiting Manager and CHRO to manage recruiting hiring and onboarding processes.
  • Oversee onboarding orientation and HR-related trainings to support successful integration of new employees.
  • Maintain and update job descriptions in alignment with organizational needs.
  • Ensure consistent administration of performance evaluation programs for the organization.
  • Assist CHRO with the design and management of compensation programs and pay equity.
  • Develop and oversee training and professional development programs for employee growth and development.
  • Serve as a responsive resource to employees addressing concerns and providing timely HR support.
  • Ensure consistent communication of HR policies procedures and programs across the organization.
  • Remain available for urgent HR matters and NARA NW events outside normal business hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Attend meetings as directed byCEO.
  • Works collaboratively and maintains professional boundaries with clients other NARA staff team members and always treats everyone with respect and dignity.

Qualifications

We would like to hear from people that have:

  • Bachelors degree in human resources or related areas.
  • At least 10 years of professional HR experience and at least 5 years of high level management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge/experience with laws/regulations related to labor and employment.
  • Supportive of the organizations mission.
  • Ability to work with sensitive data and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Must maintain all protected health information consistently with HIPAA and NARA policies.
  • Experience working in non-profit organizations behavioral health and or substance abuse agencies.
