2026 Summer Intent for Summer Adventure Camp (SAC)

**PLEASE READ**
To offer full transparency the Summer Adventure Camp Program is in the second phase of redesign. The new model of Summer Adventure Camp will continue to build on a stronger emphasis of outdoor programming and field trips including traditional walking biking and people mover outings. Additionally we will continue to include weekly visits to Camp Fireweed and other exciting excursions expanding the scope of experiences offered.
As the program evolves the details provided hereincluding positions titles or program logisticsmay be subject to some adjustments.

Program Overview
Location: SAC operates out of multiple Anchorage School District elementary schools ranging from Anchorage to Eagle River. (Locations TBD)
Program Hours: SAC program operates from 7:30am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday.
Program Dates: Late May beginning with start-up training and running through Late July/Early August.
Positions Available
Program Staff level positions:
- Counselor
- This position directly supervises youth at Camp Fire Alaska Summer Adventure Camp sites and centers. This position requires strong group management behavior management and facilitation skills to support an assigned cohort of youth throughout the program day.
- Counselor Float
- This position directly supervises youth at Camp Fire Alaska Summer Adventure Camp sites and centers and will travel between multiple sites. This position requires strong group management behavior management and facilitation skills to support an assigned cohort of youth throughout the program day.
- Field Trip Counselor
Assistant Site Director Level Positions:
- Activity Specialist
- Activity Specialists are responsible for creating innovative programming for youth through planning and facilitating specialized activities and programming that further learning promote the development of new skills increase social engagement and involve youth in fun creative activities.
- Behavior Specialist
- Playground Manager
- Activities Coordinator
Site Director Level Positions:
- Unit Leader
- The unit leader is responsible for the overall management and supervision of assigned units (camper/staff groups) overseeing all aspects of youth and staff supervision and safety.
- Lead Field Trip Specialist
- The Lead Field Trip Specialist will plan organize prep and facilitate all field trips for their program. This will include a variety of one big weekly field trip weekly visits to Camp Fireweed and local walking biking or people mover field trips.
- Lead Activity Specialist
- The Lead Activity Specialist will be responsible for supporting and overseeing the activity specialists with planning management and implementation of specialized activities and curriculum. They will oversee the activity budget execute activity supply procurement and train/coach staff on activity facilitation.
- Lead Behavior Specialist
- The Lead Behavior Specialist will support staff by working closely with youth who require additional resources and guidance to thrive in the program. They will provide coaching to staff helping them develop effective strategies for managing challenging behaviors and will intervene as needed to offer direct support.
