The Assembly Manager oversees daily assembly operations to ensure safety efficiency quality and on-time production. This role leads a team of assemblers coordinates workflows develops standardized processes and collaborates closely with production quality engineering and leadership teams. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with hands-on leadership experience in manufacturing preferably within coatings automotive or industrial production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead supervise and mentor a team of assembly technicians and leads.
- Plan schedule and coordinate daily assembly operations to meet production goals.
- Develop implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Ensure all safety policies quality standards and compliance requirements are followed.
- Collaborate with engineering quality and production teams to support new builds process improvements and root-cause analysis.
- Monitor performance metrics (productivity scrap downtime quality issues) and recommend improvements.
- Identify resource needs and allocate staffing based on workload and priorities.
- Train new and existing employees on proper assembly techniques equipment and safety procedures.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues and work with cross-functional teams to resolve problems quickly.
- Maintain proper inventory of assembly tools supplies and materials.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality throughput and efficiency.
- Participate in production planning meetings and provide operational updates.
- Ensure clean organized and audit-ready assembly work areas.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience supervising or managing teams in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Experience in coatings automotive or industrial manufacturing is a plus.
- Strong understanding of assembly processes production workflows and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings instructions and specifications.
- Excellent communication leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing 5S or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Ability to multitask prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (production software MS Office etc.).
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
