Job Summary

ONLY PERMANENT EMPLOYEES IN THE TITLE OF ELECTRICIAN**

The Bureau of Operations is seeking an Electrician to work on the office of Operations/Labs. The Electrician reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Plant Operations will work as an Electrician on the installation repair and maintenance of high- or low-tension electrical systems for light heat power and communications.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

--Installation repairs replacements and maintenance of electric wiring systems and components equipment and apparatus in or on building structures in accordance with the provisions of the NYC electrical code pertinent plans and specification or job orders.

--Install repair raceway and electrical conductors.

--Make tests on existing installations to determine faults and make necessary repairs.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
Candidates will be required to possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Qualifications :

1. Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electrician; or

2. At least three years of full-time satisfactory experience as an electrician and sufficient full-time satisfactory experience as an electricians helper or apprentice electrician or education in the electrical or electronic field acquired in an approved trade technical school or vocational high school or college or university to make up the equivalent of the remaining experience. Undergraduate college credit can be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of such helper or apprentice experience or education in an approved trade or technical school or vocational high school in the electrical or electronic field. Less than a full year of helper or apprentice experience or relevant education will receive prorated credit.

3. License Requirements

For appointment to certain positions candidates will be required to possess a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

For assignment as a special electrician candidates must possess and maintain the license(s) and/or certificate(s) required to perform these duties.
