The Master of Social Work program in the Graduate School of Counseling and SocialWork at Merrimack College invites applicants for one (1) open-rank non-tenure track9-month faculty position to begin in Fall 2026. We are specifically looking for anindividual who will teach on-campus and online in the Master of Social Work programwhich is accredited by CSWE. Candidates must have a MSW from a CSWE accreditedprogram or equivalency established through CSWE and a doctorate in Social Work or ina related field. The candidate will be responsible for teaching a total of 8 courses acrossfall spring and summer semesters serve as an academic advisor and actively contributeto the MSW program the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Work as well as the college.
On Campus MSW Program:
Aligned with the mission of Merrimack College the Master of Social Work program is an on- ground advanced generalist program and is accredited by CSWE. It represents a dynamic innovative and growth-oriented training program with a commitment to working with vulnerable and marginalized populations; and affirms the values of self-determination sustainability and community and global solidarity. The program is designed to offer both a part-time and full-time and Advanced Standing Track for students. We plan to launch a comparable online MSW program effective Fall 2026.
The faculty member will teach a total of 32 credit/contact hours (8 courses) across the fallspring and potentially during summer semesters. Faculty are expected to teach on-campus
courses in the evening after 4:00 pm. Online courses will be asynchronous and synchronous. It iscritical for the faculty to possess confidence and skill teaching and advising adult learners. Thesuccessful candidate should demonstrate the experience or ability to teach a range of courses insocial work discipline including but not limited to: Introduction to Social Work Research andPractice Evaluation of Social Work Practice Contemporary Social Welfare Policy and otherrelated courses. The faculty will be responsible for providing formal on-campus and onlineteaching effective delivery of instructional material and course management (e.g. assessmentsgrading etc.) advising mentoring and supervision of graduate students attending facultymeetings and completing social work programmatic tasks and other responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program or equivalency as defined by CSWE
Doctoral degree in Social Work or an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in a related field
Minimum 2-years full-time post MSW experience in social work practice
Minimum of 3 years of on-campus and/or online teaching in a MSW program
Preferred qualifications:
LCSW/LICSW with minimum 2-years post MSW clinical practice and supervision experience.
Experience with online platforms for course delivery and assessment.
Experience working with and/or teaching about multicultural populations immigrant populations or underserved communities.
Proficiency in a second language as a bilingual speaker.

Compensation:
The expected 9-month base salary range (paid over 12 months) for the Assistant Professor of Practice position is $78000-$90000. The actual pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as but not limited to candidate qualifications and prior experience scope of responsibilities internal equity and market considerations.
Work Location:
This is an on-campus position. There will be opportunities for teaching online and on-campus beginning Fall 2026.
