About the position

A 2-year position as research technician is available at the Department of Immunology Oslo University Hospital. The position will be located in the lab of Dr. Rasmus Iversen and will be available from March 2026.

The research group focuses on B-cell biology - in particular in relation to autoimmune diseases (Lab for Autoimmunity and B-cell Biology Recently B-cell depletion therapy has emerged as a promising treatment for several autoimmune disease. However we do not fully understand the pathogenic role of B cells. To gain insight into disease mechanisms we employ a combination of biochemical assays structural studies and high-throughput sequencing analyses of single cells isolated from patient samples. The work will be carried out in collaboration with researchers and clinicians at Oslo University Hospital.

Job description
The successful candidate will be part of an NFR-funded project that aims to decipher the mechanisms of autoantibody formation in ulcerative colitis. This is a chronic inflammatory condition of the large intestine with unknown etiology. To understand the effect of autoantibodies in ulcerative colitis we take advantage of recombinant proteins for characterization of antibody-antigen interactions. Ultimately our goal is to discover mechanisms that can be exploited for development of new therapies.

Key tasks

  • Molecular cloning.
  • Recombinant expression of proteins in eukaryotic cells.
  • Protein purification by affinity chromatography.
  • Protein-protein binding assays.
  • Establish transduced mammalian cell lines.

Qualifications

  • Authorized lab technician (bioingeniør). We also welcome applicants with completed masters degree in molecular biology or a related area but this is not a requirement.
  • Experience with relevant techniques (molecular cloning DNA extraction cell cultures affinity chromatography ELISA SDS-PAGE) is considered an advantage.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

Personal skills

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with an outstanding potential and a strong background within a relevant research area. The candidate should be able to work independently as well as in a team and should actively contribute to both the design and conduction of research experiments.
