ABOUT TWIN CITIES R!SE

Twin Cities R!SE is a nonprofit 501(c)3 whose mission is to transform the lives of those impacted by racial or socio-economic barriers through Personal Empowerment career training and meaningful employment. Our vision is a community where all individuals especially people of color have attained financial independence through employment success.


Our 8-week career training programs provide participants with the skills needed to be successful on any job. Our training focuses on individual development Personal Empowerment Career Training and the 21st Century Skills that todays employers are looking for. Graduates of this program typically double or triple their annual income. Our career coaches help participants develop a career plan while providing them with the resources and placement connections needed to achieve their goals.


Employers hire TCR graduates because they value that TCR graduates apply their Personal Empowerment skills leading to accountability responsibility conflict resolution positive interaction attendance and long-term change. They also know TCR graduates receive continued coaching services through the end of the first year of employment and that over 70% of TCR graduates stay at their job 1 years well above the general average.


Our Personal Empowerment Training curriculum that provides transformative Emotional Intelligence Training has been designed by The Empowerment Institute at Twin Cities R!SE. Not only do our TCR program participants benefit from this training The Empowerment Institute partners with businesses schools universities and nonprofits to help them create their own empowered cultures within these organizations.


JOB PURPOSE

The Career Readiness & Placement Coach supports Twin Cities R!SE participants from training through sustainable employment by integrating coaching job development and retention support. This role helps participants identify career goals build professional skills secure meaningful employment and sustain long-term career growth. The Coach ensures that all participants are prepared placed and supported for long-term success.

REPORT TO: Career Readiness Placement and Retention Manager

POSITION STATUS: Full-Time

FLSA STATUS: Exempt


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Coaching and Participant Support

  • Use TCRs Coaching model for skills assessment and development to determine participants needs by developing individualized development plans (IDPs) and career strategies to promote their skill development and job seeking and job retention.
  • Coach participants in work skill development in areas such as problem solving teamwork conflict management work habits job seeking resume development interviewing and retention strategies.
  • Assess participants support needs and coordinate the appropriate services and resources.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and accountability to ensure participants remain engaged through training completion job retention and milestones.


2. Career Readiness and Training Support

  • Guide participants through career exploration to identify appropriate career tracks and training pathways using various tools and resources.
  • Assist participants in resume tailoring job application navigation interview preparation and professional branding.
  • Utilize customized reports as a tool to develop effective job strategies and assist in resolving participant barriers to employment.
  • Leverage labor market data and industry trends to ensure participant career planning aligns with current and emerging workforce demands.
  • In collaboration with the Education team assess participants readiness level create and implement a specific and measurable job strategy which will result in final placement. Monitor and measure outcomes of the strategy adjusting as needed.


3. Job Development and Placement

  • Maintain knowledge of program participants previous work experience job readiness employment needs/interests and transferable skills to match them with employment opportunities.
  • Use job-matching tools (e.g. O*Net Realtime Talent Exchange) and digital platforms to identify relevant openings and connect participants to meaningful employment.
  • Support participants in identifying additional training opportunities or certifications aligned with their job goals.
  • Assist participants in navigating applications for grant funding or workforce development resources that can reduce barriers to accessing training and ensure these steps are integrated into their overall career strategy.
  • Provide one-on-one training on effective interview techniques and conduct other job seeking training as necessary to prepare participant for job searching and interviewing
  • Achieve employment placement goals (minimum 70% placement rate) and monitor progress toward outcome benchmarks.


4. Retention and Long-Term Career Advancement

  • Develop and implement retention strategies to support employed participants for up to two years post-placement.
  • Maintain a minimum of 80% one-year retention rate through regular follow-up coaching and barrier resolution.
  • Track and report long-term employment outcomes such as promotions and wage progression.
  • Partner with employers to identify and address workplace challenges ensuring sustained employment and advancement.


5. Data Management and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry reporting and case documentation in TCR systems.
  • Use data and feedback to evaluate program effectiveness and refine coaching and placement strategies.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve service delivery share insights and align employment outcomes with organizational goals.
  • Contribute to organizational learning and innovation in workforce readiness programming.


SUPERVISION: N/A. This position does not provide supervision to any staff.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

$50700 to $61000 annual salary depending on qualifications.

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Preferred: Bachelors degree in Human Services Social Work Human Resources Business or related field.
  • 2 years experience providing employment or career services workforce development or related coaching in community-based settings.
  • A current valid drivers license issued by the state of Minnesota to operate a motor vehicle legally in the state.
  • Experience working with diverse populations particularly individuals from underrepresented communities low-income backgrounds or those experiencing barriers to employment.
  • GCDF or other professional coaching certification preferred.
  • Experience in staffing job development or employer relations strongly desired.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Deep understanding of employment barriers labor market trends and workforce development best practices.
  • Proven ability to build trust and rapport with participants while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Strong coaching motivational interviewing and goal-setting skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with both participants and employers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities meet deadlines and adapt to changing program demands.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite Salesforce and digital collaboration tools.
  • Strong critical thinking problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Commitment to TCRs mission values of empowerment and equity and trauma-informed coaching approaches.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to use a PC/laptop requiring repetitive motion of fingers hands and wrists.
  • Required to occasionally move about in an office environment to access file cabinets printers etc. and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to move about in the community.
  • Ability to lift light materials and equipment in the typical office environment (up to 15 pounds).
  • Ability to be on video call for all meetings.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work schedule: Occasional evenings and/or weekends may be required (workweek will be adjusted accordingly).
  • Travel requirements: Position will be expected to travel throughout the Twin Cities metro area to attend meetings and other events.
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle. Must have a valid current drivers license and proof of valid insurance.
  • Location/structure of work: Position is hybrid; employee will be expected to work in the TCR office weekly.
