DescriptionThe Simulation Education Manager is a core member of the Simulation Teaching and Research Center Team. The simulation education manager is responsible for planning implementing and evaluating all program activities related to simulation education programs including but not limited to: skills training programs high-technology simulation programs immersive learning education and XR education. Management and oversight of simulation operations specialists and management of program data is a large component of this position.
Responsibilities- Plans simulation-based educational programs in collaboration with clinical content experts
- Jointly implements simulation-based educational programs in collaboration with clinical content experts
- Serves as a resource for novice simulation users
- Provides feedback on debriefing and facilitation skills to novice educators
- Independently implements simulation-based educational programs within their own area of expertise
- Works collaboratively with the simulation operations specialist to ensure all programs are implemented according to standards
- Works with simulation operations specialists to develop novel educational programs and teaching methods
- Assists with manikin operations as needed
- Acts as a standardized participant (internal facilitator) as needed during scenarios
- Assists with maintenance of equipment and organization of STAR Center facility
- Collaborates with external stakeholders to implement in-situ process improvement simulations.
- Participates in submission of documentation to regulatory and accrediting authorities and communicates any relevant information relating to the program as required.
- Assists in the coordination and data collection for project evaluation and scholarship.
- Collaborates with administration faculty students and external partners to integrate activities throughout all other Mount Sinai programs.
- Assists in developing of the program budget.
- Communicates essential aspects of the program to appropriate staff as needed which may include keeping faculty and students up to date on legal requirements internal processes and relevant conferences and meetings.
- Independently teach BLS ACLS and PALS
- Coordinates other clinical courses in collaboration with medical school faculty
- Performs other duties as required.
QualificationsAssociates Degree and Certification in relevant technical capacity; Completion of a formal education training program (ex. NAEMSE Level 1/2 MS in Education/Health Professions Education Harvard Macy Institute program)
Or--
BS in a Health Sciences profession (Masters preferred);
Certification in Healthcare Simulation Education or ability to obtain within 1 year required
3 years of clinical experience with 1 year of management supervisory or education experience.
Knowledge of Laerdal Simulation products preferred
BLS and ACLS or PALS Instructor required
NYS Certification --inclusive of radiological surgical or others with specialized training; related current health care certification/registration
Or--
NYS Registered Nurse Physicians Assistant or Respiratory Therapist required
