JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for in-house media design creation and integration working with the Director Media through all phases of development from concept to completion. Responsible for creating project Previz renderings animatics sight line studies test grids lighting studies and similar content to support vendors creating outsourced media. Responsible for integrating media design mockups testing and site integration with other disciplines including but not limited to engineering operations and the architect/engineer of record.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceives develops and defines all design elements of assigned media that effect guest experience in collaboration with the Creative Director from Blue Sky phase through to specified End Scope of relevant projects. Leads and participates in brainstorm sessions/charettes creating sketches storyboards points of view (POVs) Previz and animatics 3D models 2D/3D animation 3D renderings compositing visual effects color correction and generating pixel maps for warped displays.
  • Maintains the integrity of the envisioned original design maintaining a cohesive design in all elements associated with the project through all phases of development. Develops and presents project milestone reviews to internal and external audiences to communicate project concept content and status. Partners with Media Director in gaining internal and external approvals.
  • Provides design leadership and guidance to the attraction design team through best practices anticipating and resolving conflicts in a projects concept design as it moves forward into design development. Provides input to the Creative Director and design and production team as to methods and strategies for executing a projects design intent. Suggests and executes methods for design implementation including proof of concept mock-ups studies and models.
  • Oversees and directs the execution of all applicable project elements to ensure guest experience intent and overall quality. Directs and manages in-house design resources as well as outside talent.
  • Identifies talent and resources necessary to complete the project in concert with as appropriate the Creative Director Executive Producer Project Director Human Resources and Creative Resources Manager to procure services.
  • Acts as project liaison for appropriate internal and external partners licensors and intellectual property developers.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Directly supervises efforts of staff and sub-contractors assembled to support specific project-related tasks. Number and types of staff will vary dependent upon the Project. Responsible for managing teams of creative project personnel such as writers artists directors scenic designers media producers programmers graphic designers etc.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.

SCOPE:

Non-routine; general policies applied to frequently changing situations. Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact.

EDUCATION:

Associates degree in Theater Art Film or Architecture is required. Bachelors degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

5 years of designing experience based entertainment for theme parks or related industries; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
