Job Summary

3 Month Contract

Summary

The Contact Transport and Supervision Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective contact between children in care and their families or carers. This position involves transporting children from their placements to contact venues supervising interactions and maintaining detailed records. The officer is responsible for safeguarding the welfare of children supporting families in developing parenting skills and contributing to the overall development and implementation of care plans. This role is vital in promoting the well-being and identity of children ensuring they reach their full potential.

Responsibilities


  • Plan and deliver a high-quality child-focused contact service for children and their families/carers.
  • Supervise contact sessions maintaining detailed records of interactions child protection concerns and health and safety issues.
  • Encourage and support parents in practising safe and effective parenting skills facilitating the transition to independent contact where appropriate.
  • Provide support to children in need of protection or support ensuring services that protect and enable them to maximize their potential.
  • Ensure that care plans for children and families have clear goals and are effectively implemented achieving identified outcomes.
  • Contribute to life story work by documenting significant moments in a childs life.
  • Collaborate with management and partner agencies to develop new initiatives and improve service delivery.
  • Maintain personal and professional development through training and development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with council policies procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Undertake additional duties as required commensurate with the posts grade.


Requirements


  • NVQ3 in Child Care or Play Work NNEB or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children in need of support and protection.
  • Experience in conducting contact work and direct work with children.
  • Strong recording and report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant child care practices legislation and research.
  • Understanding of child development theory and safeguarding procedures.
  • Commitment to the Councils Equalities policy and its implications for service delivery.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends with appropriate notice.
  • Valid drivers license and clear background check.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse communities.



Required Skills:

Strong understanding of safeguarding practices and relevant legislation related to Elective Home Education Exclusions CME EBSA SEND and school attendance. Experience working with children young people and families particularly in education health or social care settings. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with families schools and partner agencies. Confidence and creativity in delivering flexible responsive support tailored to individual needs. Proficient report writing and organizational skills with the ability to manage a diverse and busy caseload. Proficiency in IT systems for maintaining accurate records and analyzing data to inform decision-making. Experience working as part of a team and contributing to service development. Ability to provide advice and support verbally in clear and accurate spoken English is essential. A full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle are required.
