Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) in Trier (Germany) is an internationally renowned research support organization in psychology and a member of the prestigious Leibniz Association. As part of an effort to strengthen its research capacity ZPID will newly establish the following position in close cooperation with the Trier University:

Junior professorship (W1-equivalent) Psychological Metascience (with tenure-track to W2 LBesG-equivalent) (f/m/d)

The professorship will be filled in a joint appointment procedure between ZPID and the Trier University based on 50 Abs. 11 HochSchG. The successful candidate will be employed by ZPID and can receive membership rights as a junior professor at Trier University (37 Abs.2 Nr.1 HochSchG). No civil service or employment relationship will be established with Trier University.

Preferred start date is July 1 2026

Duties and functions:

  • Conducting quantitative empirical research advancing Psychological Metascience including but not limited to topics such as scientific practices their impact on research quality replicability or productivity.
  • Willingness to contribute to the development of research infrastructure for psychology and related areas in cooperation with ZPIDs infrastructure departments.
  • In presence teaching in the psychology . or . program with a reduced teaching load compared to regular junior professorships.
  • Interdisciplinary focus (by means of cooperation and abilities to explore methodological approaches in other fields).
  • Submitting applications for funding.

Your profile:

According to 54 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (HochSchG) successful candidates need to hold a . or . and a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field and be qualified for teaching in psychology (e.g. proven by positive teaching evaluations or didactical training). In addition your profile comprises:

  • Research experience in quantitative empirical metascience.
  • Interest in using the databases available at ZPID for your research.
  • International publications.
  • Adherence to the principles of open science.
  • Distinct communication presentation and team leadership skills.
  • Proactive results-oriented and independent working style.
  • Willingness to move to the region of Trier (Germany).
  • Restrictions apply for graduates of the Trier University (please consult 50 para. 5 sentences 5 and 6 HochSchG for details).
