You will be at the heart of New Relics engineering process and will be building extending and supporting a core set of services which all of New Relics agents connect to every hour of every day processing millions of messages per second handling petabytes of data as part of a distributed team that values both collaboration and individual focus to solve challenging engineering problems.

What Youll Do

• Build maintain and scale back-end services and their support tools.
• Participate in architectural definitions with a high degree of innovation and creativity
• Own and drive the improvement for your teams processes.
• Contribute with the teams roadmap.
• Learn and contribute to design and development problems with the support of a world-class team covering your back.
• Work with a distributed agile team with close collaboration with our other teams in Europe and the US.

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

• You are an engineer with at least 5 years of experience in distributed systems concurrency and scaling in a production environment who can bring your learnings and career experience to bear on our roadmap.
• You have experience building multi-threaded and distributed systems understanding of scalability patterns in OOP (Java Go Python).
• You are familiar with asynchronous programming techniques: streams event-based flows task queues and message queues.
• You have experience shipping and desire to continue to develop production 24x7 highly reliable high-throughput services.
• You are not afraid of adapting learning and getting your hands dirty with different languages and frameworks.
• You are not afraid to be on-call and ready to extinguish fires.
• You communicate easily in English.

Nice-to-have:

• You thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques tools and methodologies.
• You have a collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to improve the product sharing ownership.
• You are self-motivated able to work both independently and as part of a distributed team learn quickly meet deadlines and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
• You have an interest in trying and learning new technologies.
• Experience in technical mentorship and support for helping level up the skill of colleagues on the team
