Details of Service
The Maintenance Department for the HSE South Donegal/Sligo/Leitrim/West Cavan maintenance and building services to HSE operated buildings.
The range of building and equipment services provided by the department include:
- Heating and cooling systems LPHW systems clean air systems air handling units hot and cold water services sewage treatment plants water treatment services; RO plants water softener plants UV systems catering equipment refrigeration plants cook-chill equipment laundry equipment steam boilers medical gases plants natural gas systems LPG systems gas and heavy oil systems.
- Life saving equipment; fire detection systems emergency lighting systems passive fire prevention systems fire hydrants and portable/fixed fire fighting equipment.
- Service Contract management assess register management. Purchasing invoicing procurement HR management functions.
- LV and MV electrical distributions systems motorised ACBs MV switchgear/transformers standby generators isolated power systems cardiac/body protected rooms UPS systems telephones systems; TDM/IP data cabling networks passenger bed lifts DC systems. CCTV and access control systems TV distribution.
- Patient equipment; Patient monitors central stations telemetry systems X-Ray equipment infusion devices beds hoists bedpan washers trolleys theatre pendants theatre lamps.
- Roofs chimneys rainwater systems roadways signage paths grounds garden amenities trees boundary fencing. Art displays and exhibitions. Waste Management: water clinical domestic and recycling.
- Minor refurbishment works and upgrading to wards offices residences and other facilities. Equipment and plant replacement projects.
- Energy Management and Sustainability is also involved in developing energy efficient monitoring systems and implementing energy saving and Sustainability initiatives.
- Support advice and supervision on new capital/minor capital building projects i.e. community nursing units primary care units acute psychiatric units and acute hospital developments.
Reporting Relationship
The Maintenance Department for Sligo Leitrim is led by the Maintenance Manager.
- Reports to the Maintenance Manager/Officer South Donegal/Sligo/Leitrim/West Cavan.
- Works closely with the Maintenance Manager/officer on a day to day basis on operational matters.
- Supervises staff under the remit of the Maintenance Department.
- Develops close working relationships with the Maintenance Manager and all other staff.
Develops close working relationships with Directors of Nursing Heads of Discipline and Estates Staff.
Purpose of the Post
To ensure the effective and efficient running of the maintenance services in Sligo/Leitrim. To ensure the department meets its current regulatory requirements in relation to:
HSA and Health and Safety Training for technical staff.
Maintenance of Life Saving systems: Fire Alarm emergency lighting fire doors fire compartments and escape routes.
Energy Management and Sustainability.
HIQA.
EPA
Food Safety Authority.
Disabled Access.
PAT testing and Electrical Periodical testing and certification.
Passenger and Goods Lift Maintenance.
Manage Nurse Call Systems and Patient Wandering Systems
Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines e.g. Legionella Control precautions Aspergilliosis precautions and other health care.
