About the role
In this role you will provide strategic Aboriginal community engagement expertise to support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects and Operations and Maintenance activities within the Aboriginal Communities Water Services (ACWS) program. Build and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication address community concerns and foster positive outcomes for Aboriginal communities.

What the role will involve
- Lead a team to develop and deliver stakeholder and Aboriginal community engagement strategies activities and relevant resources to support the delivery of the ACWS program of work.
- Drive Aboriginal engagement initiatives that influence business outcomes and involve diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead the development and delivery of high-quality communications and engagement resources that are accessible inclusive and tailored to diverse audiences.
- Facilitate multi-agency collaboration to enhance community and stakeholder relationships and outcomes.
- Represent the organisation as required in stakeholder forums community meetings and engagement activities ensuring feedback is captured and integrated into project planning and delivery.
- Promote a customer-focused culture across the organisation embedding Aboriginal engagement principles into service delivery.
- Support the Manager Aboriginal Community Engagement in preparing strategic documents reports Ministerial correspondence and briefing papers.
- Define the scope of Aboriginal engagement support for projects prepare service agreements and monitor resource allocation to meet delivery targets.
- Provide leadership and operational support to project and operational teams where Aboriginal engagement is a core deliverable ensuring culturally responsive and effective outcomes.
- Contribute towards the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Aboriginal engagement practices to ensure culturally responsive effective stakeholder management and service delivery.
- Act as a deputy to the Manager Aboriginal Community Engagement when required including attending senior leadership meetings and representing the team
- Support the Manager to regularly review and plan sessions to ensure alignment with ACWS program goals and Aboriginal community needs.
Key skills and experience:
- This position relates to Section 50(d) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) where Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational qualification for this position.
- Degree level qualification in communications public relations or related discipline is essential.
- International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate in Engagement is desirable.
- Substantial experience in Aboriginal community engagement stakeholder and issues management including developing and implementing community engagement strategies.
- Considerable experience in positions that require deep knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs attitudes and protocols.
- High proficiency in stakeholder/relationship management systems databases and information platforms.
- Experience working with large corporations and applying organisational policy and procedures.
- Proven leadership experience including team management.
- Exceptional communication negotiation and presentation skills.
- Highly developed conceptual analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to travel to remote and regional areas as required.
- Current unrestricted WA Drivers Licence.
