The Role:

As a Process Coach in Dimensional Engineering you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing various Body Construction processes and deliver attributes within the body and assembly manufacturing process. You will ensure quality efficiency and adherence to corporate standards. You willdirectly supervise and lead a team of skilled trades. You will conduct regular job observations to validate performance and ensure process adherence and deliver quality control requirements.



Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for dimensional capability. Analyze data and prioritize plan implement workplans to deliver requirements.
  • Supervise Skilled trades Toolmakers and assign projects.
  • Supervise Quality Control Hourly team.
  • Drive fit and finish improvements for Body In White (BIW) and Finished Vehicle on Wheels (VOW)
  • Report out on Internal/External quality metrics to Management support Quality reviews and Variability Reduction Teams (VRT).
  • Utilize External/Internal Quality metrics to develop implement improvement plans for our customers.
  • Oversee Incoming Quality and drive improvements with Stamping and Suppliers
  • Ensure adherence to Control Plan.
  • Ensure adherence to PCF schedule.
  • Provide support for reactions plans to out of spec conditions.
  • Respond to calls from Production in all departments. Assist in root cause analysis and containment/ corrective actions.
  • Find continuous improvement projects and drive special studies with the trades.
  • Maintain and perform necessary data correlations.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and skilled trades teams in the tooling.
  • Assign PMs to review geo-stations with focus on dimensional variations/capability improvements.
  • Oversee metrology devices support trouble shooting and programming ensure calibrations are up to date.
  • Manage personnel resources and develop versatility within the DCE operations team through training scheduling and performance management.
  • Address department health and safety concerns. Enforce compliance with government industry and corporate standards.
  • Support the Body Department as needed including but not limited to helping cover Joining and Sealing operations.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • 3-year college diploma in manufacturing/mechanical engineering or a related field. (Note: Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience focused on body construction fundamentals including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Must be able to work all shifts; days afternoons midnights and/or weekends if needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

  • Masters degree in engineering.

Experience:

  • Effective problem-solving skills including the application of 8D Statistical Process Control and DMAIC Project Methodologies.
  • Ability to read prints AutoCAD (Teamcenter preferred 3D Modelling 3D Printing.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
  • Lean Tools 5S Kanban Poka-Yoke and Value Stream Mapping experience.
  • TQM and Kaizen methodsexperience.
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) experience.
  • Visual Factory Management experience.
  • Knowledge of constraint management principles.
  • Experience working in a leadership role.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
