The Commonwealth Secretariat is the principal intergovernmental body of the Commonwealth responsible for advancing and achieving the shared goals of the associations 56 member governments in promoting democracy development and respect for diversity.
The Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships Division is responsible for the planning coordination and implementation of Commonwealth Secretariats resource mobilisation partnership and donor engagement building through strategies and activities to promote the Secretariats work towards the transformation and resilience building of the Commonwealth Member States and to mobilise the financial resources in-kind support and strategic partnerships required for that mission.
The Director of Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships implements strategiesto secure funding from diverse sources cultivates and maintains relationships with donors oversees the development of compelling proposals manages donor databases monitors fundraising trends and ensures effective reporting and financial controls to achieve the organisations mission. The post holder will play an important and significant role in the senior management team.
Key responsibilities of the role include developing and implementing fundraising strategies; relationship management of high contribution countries; ensuring programme alignment; cultivating and expanding the donor base; and engaging with diverse funders. The successful candidate will also provide technical support oversee proposal development develop and produce reports monitor and track funding and provide strategic leadership. To be considered for this opportunity you will need to have a post graduate degree or qualification in business administration economics finance international relations social or political science or another relevant field. A minimum of fifteen years of relevant professional experience in resource mobilization and partnership is required.
Other required experience includes a strong aptitude and understanding of the communication aspects of stakeholder engagement; demonstrated experience in managing external stakeholder relationships; excellent business-oriented verbal visual and written communication; demonstrated experience with navigating political and strategic discussions objectively and diplomatically; and experience structuring and analysing quantitative and financial models to inform decision-making. Demonstrated people management skills and leadership ability and previous experience in multicultural and international settings is also required.
