What You Will Achieve

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development of process technology for producing active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) from small-scale synthesis to commercial synthetic routes

  • Collaborate with manufacturing specialists to support technology transfer to Pfizer manufacturing sites and third-party facilities

  • Drive the creation of economical efficient and safe active drug materials and contribute to and influence goals at the work group/project team level

  • Manage time effectively develop short-term work plans and apply technical skills and knowledge proactively in projects

  • Make decisions to resolve moderately complex problems receive instructions on complex problems and work under limited supervision with periodic review

  • Develop scientific activities/projects to support team goals and provide mentoring within the work group/project team

  • Determine and understand metabolic or reaction pathways genetically engineer those pathways for improved culture performance and participate in brainstorming sessions for innovative enzyme engineering ideas

  • Serve as the primary Technical Expert for manufacturing methods perform scientific laboratory studies and make recommendations to improve manufacturing reliability cost safety compliance and environmental performance

  • Remain current with chemistry literature select and apply new and existing process technologies and assist with the definition and tracking of document management plans

  • Improve production strains by molecular biological methods and traditional mutagenesis and screening communicate progress to management and stakeholders and take personal responsibility for exceeding goals and delivering results

Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • Applicant must have a bachelors degree with at least 4 years of
    experience; OR a masters degree with at least 2 years of experience; OR a PhD with 0 years of experience; OR as associates degree with 8 years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 10 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret analytical data to inform synthetic experimental plans

  • Proficient in modern synthetic methodologies including asymmetric synthesis green chemistry catalysis and physical organic chemistry related to reaction mechanisms

  • Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in biologics purification gained through industrial or academic research development technical operations and manufacturing

  • Proficiency with electronic tools for documentation

Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)

  • Masters degree or PhD with over 7 years of relevant experience particularly in synthetic organic chemistry within a research laboratory setting

  • Expertise in process research and development

  • Hands-on experience in optimizing characterizing and scaling up process steps

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Experience in technology transfer to manufacturing facilities

  • Ability to stay current with scientific literature and advancements in the field

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $90900.00 to $151500.00. In addition this position is eligible for participation in Pfizers Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 12.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
