What you will do:
- Regularly assess Finance Division operation risks and needs collaborate with peers to identify and propose solutions lead and direct the finance work required to implement solutions using both team and matrix resources.
- Regularly review financial results to ensure accuracy and consistency with desired goals and objectives using financially sound principles.
- Develop effective reporting and documentation ensuring consistency with financial operations and company strategy. Select proper channels for distribution of key communications.
- Participate in and lead transformational projects across Finance and other impacted business lines. Ensure the communication of completed projects to proper stakeholders including senior leadership. Effectively execute projects within committed deadlines determine the appropriate amount of detail associated with each project and provide supplementary information as necessary.
- Facilitate the implementation of departmental software systems. Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to create business requirements document solutions requirements specifications systems operation guide system design documents. Monitor all aspects of project implementation. Develop user acceptance testing documents to assure functionality of new product. Assemble documentation of requirements for security information department and discuss best connectivity method as it relates to security compliance.
- Enhance financial processes through continuous improvement. Support audit requests and improve internal controls where gaps or weaknesses are identified.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What youll need to succeed:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Seven or more years of financial accounting experience
- Project management experience
- Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and competitive environment
- Strong financial acumen
- Strong understanding of strategic planning processes including development of goals and initiatives and work plan development
- Knowledge of project management methodologies processes and tools
- Ability to organize analyze and interpret financial and management data.
- Ability to create and implement short-range and long-range plans.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities establish workflows and meet necessary deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate while dealing with complex situations.
- Ability to think creatively and to drive innovation.
- Ability to influence up and across the organization.

- CPA CMA or another professional license
- Experience supporting multiple functional areas (preferably in a health insurance company or managed health care operation)

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules based on role:
- In-office: onsite 5 days per week
- Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
