Summary of Job Duties:

The Microbiome & Bacterial Immunology laboratory at the Department of Animal Science investigates the hostmicrobiome interface in livestock with emphasis on bacterial translocation from the gut to low-microbial-load tissues host immune responses and interventions to reduce antibiotic dependence. We seek a full-time laboratory technician to support molecular biology microbiome analytics bacterial isolation/culture and immunology workflows.
Prior experience in molecular biology or microbiome research is preferred but not required. Comprehensive training will be provided.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Biology Microbiology Animal Science or a related field.

  • Excellent attention to detail organization and record-keeping.

  • Willingness to learn new techniques and follow SOPs.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DNA/RNA extraction PCR/qPCR or microbiome workflows

  • Familiarity with aerobic/anaerobic culture techniques

  • Experience in histology or immunohistochemistry

  • Basic data handling (Excel/Google Sheets; optional R/Python exposure a plus)
