The Boeing Company is currently seeking Associate Composite Technical Analyst to support our Advanced Production & Automation (APA) team located in Tukwila WA.

APA is a research and development organization focused on developing and production-hardening new automated manufacturing technologies for the fabrication and assembly of aircraft team begins with ideas and through hands on experiments tests and demonstrations develops these concepts into implementable equipment and processing solutions that support multiple programs across Boeings our state-of-the-art composites fabrication and robotic automation labs our engineers and technical analysts lead and execute a variety of composites materials & fabrication development projects to transform ideas into reality. We work closely with the BTI Materials & Structures BCA Product Development and BCA Airplane Program teams to identify develop and transition technology needs to Boeing products.

As an associate Composite Technical Analyst you will work under the direction of experienced mentors to conduct hands-on composite manufacturing trials fabricate test articles and execute laboratory experiments to support the use of new materials processes and tools in the engineering and manufacture of products. The chosen candidate will be motivated self-driven and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess or desire to learn hands-on skills in composites layup part bagging autoclave or oven cure trim drill mechanical assembly machining robotics operations or inspection tasks. This is an on-site position and you will be expected to spend most of your time in the laboratory environment. We are a collaborative team and you will work with cross functional teammates including MP&P Engineers Design & Structural Engineers Quality Engineers & Inspectors Test Engineers & Operators Assembly mechanics and support teams; a collaborative attitude and the willingness to work together are vital to our teams success. Position Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a highly motivated team of technicians fabricating panels and parts for demonstration articles by using both hand layup and automated equipment techniques.
  • Tool prep of composite and metallic layup tools/mandrels using solvent release agents and consumable plastic films.
  • Perform composite layup vacuum bagging resin infusion and curing operations per engineering planning that is based on drawings/Model Based Definition (MBD) and specifications.
  • Trim drill deburr and finish composite parts with hand tools and shop equipment used in the composite fabrication labs.
  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces in accordance with labs housekeeping guidelines and 5S standards.
  • Interface with engineers and leadership to showcase work being done.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Computer Science Mathematics Physics Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 02 years of manufacturing shop or technician experience; vocational/composite coursework or internships acceptable.
  • Ability to read and follow written work instructions/process documentation used in the fabrication of Aerospace parts.
  • Basic hand-tool proficiency and comfort using common shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail manual dexterity and reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Vocational certificate or coursework in composites aerospace manufacturing or related trade.
  • Prior exposure to composite processes (hand layup vacuum bagging prepreg) or tooling.
  • Familiarity with reading/reviewing engineering drawings and basic measurement tools (calipers tape).
  • Experience with PPE and ventilation controls for composite work.
  • Willingness to obtain equipment (ie. forklift/material handling) certification.
  • Experience with composite forming equipment robotics operation and automation.
