GIBBs Roads and Highways Services Delivery Unit provides a comprehensive range of services that include traditional consulting services (design procurement and contract supervision) Public Private Partnership (PPP) solutions and asset management services. This includes high-capacity freeways interchanges and bridges airport pavements rural roads (including low volume and haul roads) and municipal infrastructure. The team is supported by transportation and traffic engineers geotechnical and material engineers and other specialists.

Core Purpose
The successful candidate will support the Resident Engineer (RE) in the management and oversight of road construction projects. Responsibilities include monitoring contractor progress supervising construction activities in line with specifications ensuring traffic accommodation and maintaining compliance with OHS Road Traffic and environmental requirements.
Key Performance Areas
- Support the Resident Engineer (RE) in monitoring:
- contractors progress;
- construction activities in accordance with the specifications;
- traffic accommodation;
- OHS and environmental compliance;
- site laboratory.
- Coordinate the issuing of site instructions and responses to contractors correspondence.
- Verify contractors measurement and payment certificates in collaboration with the RE.
- Assist with acceptance control under the guidance of the RE.
- Maintain all necessary site records.
- Liaise with stakeholders and the RE to ensure smooth communication.
- Lead or facilitate monthly site and technical meetings alongside the RE.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Relevant Tertiary qualification: BSc or Degree.
- Registered as a Candidate Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng with ECSA.
Experience:
- 7 10 years or experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer on major road upgrade projects (>R200 million in value).
- Competent with Civil Designer / Model Maker and AutoCAD.
- Construction supervision and management.
- Construction quality control on major road upgrade projects
- Minute taking at site and technical meeting.
- Preparation of reports.
- Good knowledge of COTO specifications
- Good knowledge of the FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
Person Requirements
Core Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of MS office packages.
- Knowledge of COTO specifications.
- Knowledge of SANRAL M2 Manual for site quality control.
- Strong knowledge of Civil Designer / Modelmaker and AutoCAD.
