Job Summary

Relief / Fixed-Term (with potential for repeat rotations)

The Relief Lodge Anchor provides operational support to the lodge management team and ensures smooth running of daily lodge functions during management rotations leave or peak periods. This individual acts as the central link between guests staff and management ensuring exceptional service delivery strong team coordination and consistent lodge standards.

This role requires a confident detail-oriented solutions-driven person with the ability to guide and motivate staff while seamlessly integrating into an established and well-functioning team.

  • Welcome host and engage guests throughout their stay ensuring all needs are met with warmth and professionalism.

  • Handle guest queries special requests and last-minute changes promptly and effectively.

  • Oversee check-in/check-out processes room readiness and guest activity coordination.

  • Monitor guest satisfaction and address issues proactively.

  • Assist in day-to-day lodge operations including housekeeping F&B service coordination and general admin.

  • Support the lodge manager in ensuring all departments follow SOPs hygiene standards and service workflows.

  • Conduct property checks to maintain high standards of presentation and maintenance reporting.

  • Handle basic stock control ordering and shift handovers when required.ht

  • Assist in supervising and motivating lodge staff across departments.

  • Provide clear guidance and maintain consistent communication with the team.

  • Support performance standards ensure duties are completed correctly and step in where needed.

  • Uphold discipline tactfully yet firmly maintaining fairness and fostering a positive team culture.

  • Work collaboratively within an established team structure respecting existing roles and systems.

  • Remain calm organised and decisive in unexpected situations.

  • Address guest concerns or staff issues professionally and efficiently.



Requirements

  • Proven experience in a lodge boutique hotel or hospitality environment (front office guest relations or management support preferred).

  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to lead and coordinate staff while maintaining teamwork and respect for established structures.

  • Reliable self-discipline time management and the ability to work independently when required.

  • Competent computer skills.

  • Well-presented professional and guest-focused.

  • Calm under pressure solutions-driven and practical.

  • Confident but approachable with the emotional intelligence to manage diverse teams.

  • High personal integrity and reliability.

  • Warm engaging and naturally hospitable with a guest-first mindset.

  • Flexible adaptable and willing to assist wherever needed.

Required Skills:

Proven experience in a lodge boutique hotel or hospitality environment (front office guest relations or management support preferred). Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to lead and coordinate staff while maintaining teamwork and respect for established structures. Reliable self-discipline time management and the ability to work independently when required. Competent computer skills (reservations systems an advantage). Valid drivers licence (PDP advantageous depending on lodge needs). Well-presented professional and guest-focused.
