POSITION OBJECTIVE: Incumbents perform high school athletic grounds maintenance. The position is a non-supervisory position and distinguished from the Groundskeeper position by the experience depth of high school athletics knowledge ability to work independently without close supervision as well as certification requirements. | |

SKILLS: Skills in:
Calibrate spreaders for application of liquid and granular fertilizer herbicides and warm and cool season grass seed. Plant and prune trees and shrubs according to Arizona Landscape Professional standards. Follow department policies and procedures; safety procedures and practices; traffic control methods. Learn understand and operate the Districts Cal-Sense Irrigation System. Perform sprinkler maintenance; repair lines heads. Operate all related landscape maintenance equipment including chain saws and other equipment weighing up to 80 lbs. Operate a personal computer to check e-mail. Safely operate EZ-Go cart and drive District vehicles. Lift empty and carry trash bags or cans weighing approximately 50 lbs. Operate telephone and radio communications equipment properly. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers supervisors other departments and school staff. Demonstrate the willingness to assume ownership in completion of assigned tasks. Complete work orders and safety checklists in a complete and readable manner. Maintain regular consistent attendance and punctuality. | |
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: reaching standing walking finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts electrical currents vibrations fumes odors dusts gases chemicals oils extreme temperatures inadequate lighting and intense noises. | |
