Job Summary

New Westminster Schools Career Opportunity PAINTER TRADES II (TEMPORARY)

Job Function:

  • Reports to the Director of Maintenance & Operations or designate
  • Performs a variety of skilled and other tasks related to the trade in the maintenance and upkeep of the school district buildings
  • Performs interior and exterior painting assignments ranging from minor to major projects
  • Prepares and mixes paint
  • Prepares area for application
  • Performs wall papering duties
  • Erects scaffold swing stage genie power lifts ladders etc.
  • Performs pressure washing duties
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 graduation
  • Completion of a BC or Interprovincial Tradesperson Certificate in Painting (TQ)
  • Valid B.C. drivers license
  • Ability to perform a standard of workmanship at a tradesmans level
  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the standard practices methods materials tools and equipment of the trade
  • Skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff pupils and the community
Hours of Work & Salary:
  • Temporary position working 40 hours per week normally 7:00a.m. 3:30p.m. Monday Friday at $38.21 per hour (plus $0.50 per hour Labour Market Adjustment)
  • Temporary position ending June 30 2026 with possible extension or could end sooner upon return of the incumbent
