Job Summary

New Westminster Schools Career Opportunity PAINTER TRADES II (TEMPORARY)

Job Function:

Reports to the Director of Maintenance & Operations or designate
Performs a variety of skilled and other tasks related to the trade in the maintenance and upkeep of the school district buildings
Performs interior and exterior painting assignments ranging from minor to major projects
Prepares and mixes paint
Prepares area for application
Performs wall papering duties
Erects scaffold swing stage genie power lifts ladders etc.
Performs pressure washing duties
Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

Grade 12 graduation
Completion of a BC or Interprovincial Tradesperson Certificate in Painting (TQ)
Valid B.C. drivers license
Ability to perform a standard of workmanship at a tradesmans level
Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the standard practices methods materials tools and equipment of the trade
Skill in the use of tools and equipment of the trade
Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
Ability to plan and carry out an effective work schedule with a minimum of supervision
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff pupils and the community

Hours of Work & Salary:

Temporary position working 40 hours per week normally 7:00a.m. 3:30p.m. Monday Friday at $38.21 per hour (plus $0.50 per hour Labour Market Adjustment)
Temporary position ending June 30 2026 with possible extension or could end sooner upon return of the incumbent
