About the Role:

About the Role:

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Associate Journal Operations Manager to join our this role you will be at the heart of our Research Publishing portfolio leading the end-to-end transition of journals as they launch transfer or are acquired. You will be a central point of coordination ensuring seamless transitions that maintain the integrity and operational health of our scholarly publications.

Within the team the Associate Journal Operations Manager oversees the end-to-end management of journal transitions for Wileys Research Publishing portfolio. Helps manage operational tasks for large projects and strategic implementations. Solve title-level issues independently and have a growing level of knowledge about the operational management of the Research Publishing business. Reports to Senior Manager of Publishing Operations who has direct responsibility for decisions on the projects taken on by this role as well as the strategic direction of the team.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Associate Journal Operations Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Journal Transition Management (45%)
    • Lead a portfolio of journal transitions (new launches takeovers transfers) from initiation to successful completion.
    • Proactively identify troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the transition process.
    • Serve as the primary liaison with internal cross-functional teams managing expectations and ensuring clear communication.
    • Ensure all transitions are delivered on time with minimal disruption to journal operations.

  • Data Integrity & Reporting (20%)
    • Accurately track and update the status of all assigned transitions in central tracking systems.
    • Contribute data and insights to portfolio-level reports providing visibility into project health and progress for team leadership.

  • Process Improvement (20%)
    • Execute all transition activities with a focus on speed accuracy and standardization.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance and optimize transition workflows within your scope of work.
    • Contribute to team-wide initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and service quality.

  • Operational Projects (15%)
    • Participate in departmental projects such as process improvement initiatives or system implementations.
    • Provide operational expertise to ensure project goals are aligned with team workflows and capabilities.

What Were Looking For:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent.
  • Over 5 years of experience in operations project coordination or a related role with a proven track record of managing deliverables independently.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • A proactive problem-solver who can handle operational issues with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and process.
  • High proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 suite (Word Excel PowerPointPlanner).
  • Ability to work autonomously showing high initiative and accountability.
  • Adaptable and resilient in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in academic publishing scholarly communications or journal operations.
  • Experience contributing to cross-functional projects.
  • A process-oriented mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience with data tracking management and reporting.
