Multilingual Learners Instructional Coach (PreK12)Location: East Providence Public SchoolsDepartment: Multilingual Learners (MLL)Reports to: MLL DirectorStatus: Full-TimeDistrict Mission for MLLs:Multilingual Learners in East Providence will be provided a safe relationship-driven and language-rich learning environment that honors cultural and linguistic assets preparing students to achieve their full potential and advocate for themselves in and out of the Summary:The Multilingual Learner (MLL) Instructional Coach supports the development and implementation of high-quality inclusive and language-rich instruction across grades PreK12. The coach works collaboratively with educators and school leaders to build capacity in effective instructional practices that simultaneously support content and language development. The MLL Instructional Coach models and promotes asset-based approaches scaffolding and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching to ensure that all multilingual learners are supported in achieving their full academic coach plays a critical role in the districts efforts to close opportunity gaps promote equity and provide professional learning opportunities focused on strengthening instruction for multilingual learners. This role requires a deep understanding of language acquisition culturally responsive pedagogy and the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with educators across all levels.*This position is funded through MLL State FundingResponsibilities:Design and facilitate professional learning aligned to student data and district goals at the school and district instructional coaching to classroom teachers and support staff through co-teaching demonstration lessons side-by-side planning and/or observation non-evaluative observation and feedback tools to identify trends and support continuous instructional with school-based and district teams to align instructional practices to the WIDA English Language Development Standards and support integration of language and the implementation of high-quality instructional materials and technology tools (e.g. Imagine Learning Ellevation i-Ready).Co-plan and facilitate targeted interventions and scaffolding strategies for MLLs at varying levels of English job-embedded coaching and modeling of best practices including structured academic talk vocabulary development and disciplinary educators understanding of the relationship between first-language development and additional language school teams in developing and implementing inclusive practices for differently-abled MLLs in collaboration with Special Education with the Curriculum Director to align content instruction to language goals and MLL educator capacity to engage families of MLLs as partners in their childs learning and advocate for equitable schools in using qualitative and quantitative data to track MLL growth inform instruction and accelerate language in professional learning communities statewide MLL networks and coaching development aligned with best practices for coaching and adult workshops and conferences to remain current in research and practices for multilingual duties as assigned by the MLL Director or district Knowledge and Skills:Understanding of Title III requirements WIDA 2020 ELD Standards and Rhode Islands Blueprint for MLL SuccessFamiliarity with formative and summative assessments used for MLLs (ACCESS WIDA Screener RICAS PSAT/SAT)Experience with Ellevation and other platforms supporting MLL servicesDemonstrated skill in data analysis instructional planning and coaching cyclesKnowledge of CCSS high-quality instructional materials and evidence-based practices for language developmentStrong interpersonal skills and a commitment to equity inclusion and culturally responsive teachingAbility to lead adult learning and facilitate effective professional developmentDeep belief in the linguistic and cultural assets of multilingual learnersQualifications:Bachelors degree in EducationValid Rhode Island Teaching Certification with MLL Certification (PreK12)Experience providing professional development and/or instructional coachingProficiency with Google Workspace Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration toolsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Masters or advanced degree in Education or a related fieldSeven years of successful teaching experienceExperience in a leadership or coaching role at the school or district levelExpertise in implementing language-rich instruction in diverse learning environments
