The Oregon Department of Corrections is hiring for a Dentist limited duration part-time for one year though may be extended or decreased due to business need to go between Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) in Pendleton and Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla Oregon. Pay listed above is for a full-time employee salary would range by hours worked. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and could be used to fill future vacancies.

About the Job Your Role

You will provide professional chairside dental procedures consistent with community standard in a correctional setting to an adult in custody population. You will adhere to established time frames for procedures.

This position is represented by American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

You must have a current unencumbered Dentists license issued by the Oregon Board of Dentistry at the time of appointment.

The department prefers that licensees have had no previous discipline with the Oregon Board of Dentistry or with Boards of any other states.

Working Conditions

This position is located inside Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton and Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla. Adults in custody may become physically and verbally abusive and assaults and disturbances may occur. Contact with adults in custody during treatment consultation or supervision may take place out of visual range of security staff. Vigilance and awareness are required to maintain a non-threatening environment. May have exposure to chemicals communicable diseases radiation and other hazards inherent within a health care and correctional setting.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position. However having a felony record does not exclusively restrict you from being considered as an applicant. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
