Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of machine tool preventative maintenance and repair. Verifiable journeyperson status achieved through a four year apprenticeship program as a machinist or maintenance machinist. Previous college-level teaching experience in the areas of manual machine tools; setup operation and programming of CNC machine tools using G code and CAD / CAM systems and SolidWorks. National Institute of Metalworking Skills ( NIMS ) certified and familiarity with the NIMS certification process for students. Knowledge of maintenance machining operations for pump valve and gearbox repairs including taper cutting acme threads and multiple lead threads.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of any Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of professional experience as a Machinist; OR Possession of any Associate Degree from an accredited college AND six (6) years of experience as a Machinist; OR May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Machine Technology. ( THE CREDENTIAL WILL NOT SATISFY THE REQUIREMENTS FOR TENURE ); (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1 1990). OR The equivalent qualifications. (Candidates who claim equivalency must provide conclusive evidence as clear and reliable on the college transcripts as required on the District Equivalency Application Form. Refer to the Equivalency Procedures below. This is not a process to waive the minimum qualifications.) Note: Foreign Degree(s) must be evaluated by an official foreign credentials/transcripts evaluation and translation service. Understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
