We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineering Manager to join our Data Platform and Engineering team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in data operations and a proven ability to drive operational excellence in technical environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in operationalizing support workflows incident response protocols and data observability practices across our data platforms.
This position is open to both HQ-based and remote candidates.
How You Will Contribute
Manage a small team of data engineers focused on operational support reliability and platform engineering.
Provide mentorship guidance and performance feedback to team members.
Be hands-on in writing production-grade code to support data product development collaborating directly with data engineers and architects.
Design and implement scalable support processes for data pipelines and platforms.
Foster a culture of accountability continuous learning and collaboration.
Own and evolve incident response playbooks ensuring rapid and effective resolution.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define service levels and reduce downtime.
Lead efforts to enhance data observability using tools like Monte Carlo Bigeye or similar.
Define and track key metrics for data health latency and reliability.
Drive adoption of proactive monitoring and alerting systems.
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support tasks and incident triage.
Partner with platform and analytics teams to streamline data delivery and quality assurance.
Contribute to documentation and knowledge base development.
Act as a point of contact for operational escalations and support inquiries.
Communicate effectively with business and technical stakeholders regarding incidents and resolutions.
Support onboarding and enablement of new data users and engineers.
What You Will Bring
5 years of experience in data engineering with exposure to DevOps and/or DataOps operational support and incident management.
1 years of experience in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of data pipeline architecture ETL/ELT processes and cloud data tools (e.g. Snowflake Databricks Fivetran dbt AWS/GCP).
Familiarity with observability tools and practices (e.g. logging tracing metrics).
Excellent problem-solving skills and a bias toward action.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
