Other Conditions:

Private funds full-time non-tenure track with possibility of increasing FTE. To begin approximately July 2026 subject to position clearance and availability of funds and to end on June30 2027.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching (40%
    1. Teach and supervise medical students and pediatric residents during morning report.
    2. Present didactic lectures for academic half day and retreats.
    3. Facilitate case discussions and assist trainees of all levels in the clinical learning environment.
    4. Assist with the planning and facilitation of our program-run board review.
  2. Service (40%)
    1. Work with Program Director and Associate Program Directors to help with administering the program.
    2. Develop educational activities.
    3. Create work & call schedules for pediatric residents.
    4. Sere as a liaison for communication between the residents and program/department.
    5. Provide clinical coverage during residents weekly Academic Half-Days.
    6. Actively participate in recruitment and selection of interns for July 2027.
    7. Design and implement resident retreats helping residents engage n meaningful cultural/community experiences supporting wellness and understanding their place as physicians in the community.
    8. Organize and facilitate Morning Report three days per week on Mondays Tuesdays and Fridays.
  3. Professional Development and Scholarly Activity (20%)
    1. Pursue original research and presentation of a project at a local and/or national conference.
    2. Further professional development including pursuit of additional training and/or scholarly work during chief year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.D. D.O. or equivalent degree from a medical school of recognized standing.
  • Board certified (within 7 years) or an active board candidate for certification in Pediatrics.
  • Must have current Hawaii Medical License or have Hawaii Medical License by date of hire.
  • Completion of a standard ACGME accredited residency program in Pediatrics
  • Demonstrate potential for teaching/research/scholarship.
  • Demonstrate ability in patient care and strong medical knowledge
  • Demonstrate poise diplomacy and professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
