Sunchild First Nation School is seeking a passionate student-centred Grade 9 Teacher to join our dedicated team for the remainder of the 2025-2026 School Year. The successful candidate would be working collaboratively with another Grade 9 teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a vibrant Cree community committed to student success cultural strength and holistic education.

About Sunchild First Nation School

Located approximately 60 km northwest of Rocky Mountain House Sunchild First Nation School is a modern K4Grade 12 facility serving about 385 students with 70 staff. Our school offers one of the most comprehensive holistic education systems in the region blending strong academics with Cree culture land-based learning wellness and extensive student supports.

Position: Grade 9 Teacher

We are seeking a dynamic caring Grade 9 teacher who:

  • Builds strong relationships with students
  • Creates engaging lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum
  • Integrates technology effectively in the classroom
  • Values culture diversity and community partnerships
  • Is open to working in a First Nation setting with culturally responsive approaches
  • Collaborates well in a team environment


Teachers must be eligible for Alberta Teachers certification. New graduates of Bachelor of Education programs are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must also submit a criminal record check and an intervention record check as a condition of employment.

The start date for the position is as soon as possible. Closing will be on Monday December 1st 2025. Interviews will be conducted either in person or via Google Meet depending on the interviewees request.
